REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Blender-QA Laboratory Technician - Lubricants reports directly to the Operations Manager.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Blender (primary role)- Lubricants is responsible for the fulfillment of customer orders through completion of the blending schedule or production plan as presented by leadership that ensures on time and in full delivery of associated orders. The QA Laboratory Tech(task) is primarily responsible for processing fluid samples, maintaining the operation and quality compliance of lab activities.
ACTIVITIES:
- Ensure traceability of incoming materials, production, retain samples, and outsourced tests
- Follow good laboratory practices and coordinate activities and services of third-party labs
- Obtain blend samples and perform ASTM or in-house testing: kinematic viscosity, density, and specific gravity, glycol percentage, freeze point
- Actively maintain control and management of test result data and documents from raw materials, blends and finished products
- Maintain lab equipment calibration using in-house methods and third-party services
- Accurate and timely interpretation and communication of test results
- Perform test blends, stability tests, and make formula improvement recommendations
- Prepare reports with recommended corrective actions on non-conforming blends
- Review, revise, and improve in-house testing procedures and documents
- Collaborate with QHS, Production, and Sales as required
- Operate blending equipment, blending software, scales, pumps, and various other production equipment.
- Identify all non-conforming raw materials and hold production if there are issues regarding material quality.
- Accurately blend product; preparation of base oils and additives, raw material type, amount, sequence, and timing as shown in written instructions/Work Orders/Blend Sheets.
- Accurately identify and record raw material batch codes/IDs.
- Accurately assign batch codes to new blends, incoming raw materials, and finished goods, and record electronically.
- Obtain batch retain samples following Standards and Work Instructions. Test for Kinematic viscosity, density, specific gravity, and solubility.
- Report/Communicate blend production and issues to Production daily.
- Apply labels to containers as required to identify product/blends.
- Perform basic packaging inspection to eliminate chance of product contamination.
- Fill and package drum, pail, and bulk containers to specific weights from storage or production tanks.
- Accurately and efficiently receive raw materials, offload rail cars and tanker trucks.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area.
- In addition to these typical duties, individuals may perform other duties, indoors and outdoors, as assigned, and required

- Strong mathematical skills, understand and apply the use of ratios, percentages, concentrations, and dilutions. Ability to estimate and calculate volumes.
- Ability to read blueprints or understand the facilities piping manifold system to optimize efficiency in pumping viscosity-diverse fluids

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education : CET Designation in Chemical or Petroleum (Preferred) or any related field or experience
Experience : Minimum of 6 months experience in Blending and lab experience in Chemical / Petroleum
Language : Fluent in English spoken and written.
